Guided Worship for September 6, 2026

Today many of us are enjoying a long weekend.  Some are traveling.  Some are spending time with family.  Some are working.  Some are resting.  Whatever this weekend holds for you, following Jesus isn't something we pause until next Sunday.  God meets us in the ordinary rhythms of everyday life.

Celebrate

Together we celebrate who God is and what he is doing among us as his people!

SCRIPTURE: Colossians 3:12-17 NIV

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Read through the passage one or two times.  Highlight or underline the things that stand out to you as you read.

SONG:

Watch and reflect on this song called, House of the Lord

ESPECIALLY FOR KIDS:

WATCH:

As you continue reflecting on what it means to belong to the body of Christ, watch this short video from the Bible Project.  It traces the story of God's people from Genesis to Revelation and reminds us that through Jesus, we have all been called to serve as His royal priesthood--offering our lives in worship and representing his love in the world.

REFLECT:

-What does it mean to youo that every follower of Jesus has a place in God's work?

-How has God uniquely gifted you to encourage and serve others?

-This week, how might you represent Christ to someone in your home, workplace, or neighborhood?

SONG:

Speak, O Lord

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You

to receive the food of Your holy Word

Take Your truth, plant it deep in us

Shape and fashion us in Your likeness

That the light of Christ might be seen today

In our acts of love and our deeds of faith

Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us

all Your purposes for Your glory.

PRAYER:

Gracious God, thank You for making us part of Your Church.  Help us to love one another well, to serve with humility, and to use the gifts You have given us for Your glory.  May our lives together reflect the love of Christ, and may Your Spirit strengthen us to encourage one another throughout this week.  In Jesus' name we pray.  Amen.

Blessing

Go now into the ordinary places of life, remembering that there are no ordinary people and no ordinary moments for those who belong to Christ.  Whatever you do--in word or deed, in work or rest, at home or away--do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

May your faith be seen not only in what you believe, but in the way you live each day.

Go in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
